The Portwest PS79 AirTech Light Bump Cap is a lightweight, ventilated cap with a hard PE shell and an EPP foam liner. It is certified to EN 812 and protects your head when you knock it against fixed objects. It is not a hard hat and does not protect against falling objects.
Key features
- Bump protection: a durable, impact-resistant PE shell with an EPP foam liner, certified to EN 812.
- Cool to wear: multiple ventilation holes in the plastic shell and a mesh top on the cap.
- Soft and light: extra padding and a comfort liner give a soft feel, and the light weight suits all-day wear.
- Easy fitting: a buckle at the back adjusts the size from 54 to 64 cm.
- Reflective piping: adds visibility, with a 5 cm mid peak for all uses.
A bump cap is not a hard hat. PS79 gives no protection against falling or thrown objects or moving loads, and it must not be worn in place of an industrial safety helmet to EN 397. It is made to absorb the energy of a knock against a fixed object. Where there is a risk of falling objects, you need an EN 397 safety helmet instead.
Fit it and check it. Wear the cap with the peak forward and adjust the fit at the back so it sits properly on your head. Check it every day for signs of damage, and replace it after a hard knock, as the shell may be damaged. Under normal conditions it protects for 2 to 3 years from first use, or 5 years from the manufacturing date marked in the shell.
Keep it as it is. No accessories can be fitted to PS79, there are no spare parts and it cannot be repaired. Do not paint it or put solvents or labels on it. Changing or removing original parts can be dangerous.
Colours and sizes. PS79 comes in Black, Navy, Orange and Yellow, one size (54 to 64 cm).
